Always on my “better late than never” steez, I give to you the video for the Che Grand‘s nice weather banger “Girls Talk” featuring Darrin Maxwell (of Brooklyn’s own Sankofa) on the crooning and Aeon on the beat.  The video was directed by Lajon S. Daniels.  There are bunch of cool little cameos in here if you watch closely.  And speaking of being better late than never, this jam will be featured on Che’s soon-to-be-released Everything’s Good Ugly LP which is quickly becoming the “Detox” of the underground hip-hop scene.  And just as highly anticipated in my eyes.

TFB supports The Lessondary to the very last breath.  However, not many know about a couple of the lesser-known members – Jermiside (emcee) & Brickbeats (producer), two halves that make up the whole of The Red Giants.  That has to change pretty damn quick.  You may have heard Jerm on various guest spots here and there and Brickbeats has done crafted some beats for some of Tanya Morgan‘s best joints.  On this track, the whole gang gets together for one of those mandatory posse cuts.  This will appear on The Red Giants’ sophomore effort Chain Reaction, coming soon.

The other night, Che Grand IMs me and sends me the FIRE you’re about to listen to.  Some of you may remember Jay Electronica‘s “Hagler” as a demo that Rappers I Know posted back in the beginning of December 2008.   Of course I proceed to flip out because Che rips it and I’m a huge Denaun Porter fan.  Apparently Jay gave Che the green light to tack a verse onto it.  I ask Che if its okay to post it.  He tells me to hold on.  The next day I get an email and he says to “pull the trigger.”  Five minutes after that, I get another email saying “LOL, actually don’t.”  Today I saw it up over at 2dopeboyz so screw it, I’m-a post it too.  Too much heat to sit on.  LESSONDARY!

Pardon my slight lateness on this one.  Work has been killin’ me this week.  Here’s the latest street effort from the homie Che Grand in eager anticipation of that fateful day when his debut solo album, Everything’s Good Ugly, FINALLY dops.  He’s been going through some drama on that one y’all. 

However, one thing about all of the ZFTP mixtapes he’s put out (Breakfast @ Wimbledon being the 7th volume) is that you get to hear how he’s progressed over time and how he has come into his own.  It gives you the feeling that you’ve been with him for the journey.  If you enjoy this and wanna hear the older stuff,  hit him up.  Maybe he can lace you with the previous volumes.  For now, get ready to experience a motion picture for your ears.

Uh oh…the homie Che Grand pulled a full-time jack move on Common and Pharrell!  Here’s a quick leak from Che’s upcoming mixtape Breakfast at Wimbledon (dropping on Saturday, October 25th) called “Restart.”  I just want y’all to listen to how he tears the “Universal Mind Control” beat a couple of new orifices.  Yikes.  And you can bet your sweet bippy we’ll have the mixtape up when it hits the air.

Another joint from out of left field that renews and rejuvenates my love for hip-hop.  Big up to 2dopeboyz for posting this.  The joint is by Jersey emcee 8thw1 (simply pronounced 8TH ONE, out of the AOK Collective) with the homies (and personal favorites) Che Grand and Tanya Morgan‘s own Von Pea on the guest spots. 

The beat (produced by Sincere aka Young Jedi) is just disgusting.  It has this sloppy RZA-ish / Madlib-ish incomplete cadence that I am diggin’ something terrible.  Not everyone can rap over beats like these.  These guys…yup.

So I found this over on Aeon’s blog the other night (as he’s the producer of this track).  I lost my mind on first listen because it’s probably one of the best songs off Che Grand‘s soon-to-be-released debut opus (Everything’s Good Ugly) I’ve heard to date.  However it was streaming and not available for download.  But, using my uncanny HTML code-breaking abilities, I snatched the MP3 anyway because I’m a nerd like that.  And I ALMOST posted it with reckless abandon because I was feeling it THAT much. Then I realized there was probably a good reason why it was streaming in the first place.

So I did the nice thing:  asked for permission.  After a few emails back and forth w/ Che, I was given the greeeeeeeen liiiiiiight (© John Legend).  Ladies and gents, a TREES FOR BREAKFAST EXCLUSIVE! The rough cut of “I Know You Still Want Me” complete with alot of ad libby shit talkin’ @ the end that might not be there when the album finally drops.  So consider this is a collector’s item.

So Che slid this my way the other day via AIM. Apparently someone got a hold of his album already and leaked a track. And he has no clue who did it. At least that’s what he SAYS. But he seemed really amped at the fact that his music is already floating around so maybe it’s on the up-and-up.  I feel like I have been waiting on this album since I met this guy years ago.  In any case, this track is FIRE.  Produced by Philly newcomer Brizzo.
