We all knew that Waajeed was nice with the production equipment, but who knew that he could catch wreck with a video camera and some film editing software too?  The brain behind the genre-bending and boundary-blurring Platinum Pied Pipers walks us through the creation of his interpretation of “Green Eyed Love” by one of 2009′s biggest breakthrough artists, Mayer Hawthorne.

In a slew of very talented Detroit-born-and-bred producers, Waajeed has always remained one of the leaders of the pack. When he’s not doing duty running things w/ the Platinum Pied Pipers, he’s in the lab cooking. Here’s something brand spankin’ new he just released as an appetizer.  Who knows what he has up his sleeve for the near future. But we’ll be locked in, waiting for whatever’s next.

January 2009 has been a GREAT month if you’re a Platinum Pied Pipers fan like myself.  The Abundance Mixtape dropped (for free) a week before the actual full Abundance album hit stores.  I hope you bought it.  And now, to close out the month, DJ Topspin (whom I’ve featured on TFB before w/ his insane T-Pain remix) and Waajeed have collabo’ed for the PPP Remixtape.

All hail Kenny Fresh, Waajeed and the rest of the Bling 47 massive.  Next Tuesday, January 20th (Inauguration Day is a FANTASTIC day to drop an album, big up), the long-awaited sophomore effort from the Platinum Pied Pipers entitled Abundance finally hits the stores and online outlets.

I remember when I first got this CD back in early 2006.  Unfortunately I can’t remember where.  But all it was, was a plain CD w/ a white sticker on it that read “THE PATTY HEARST BEAT TAPE” across the top, “Produced by Waajeed” across the bottom and the little Bling 47 headphone-smiley face logo (with the www.bling47.com URL underneath) to the left. 

I felt like the shizit for a hot minute because I knew I was holding something exclusive and limited in my grubby mitts.  Nothing but bangin’ beats by Platinum Pied Pipers lead man (and Detroit’s own) Waajeed set across the backdrop of the infamous Patty Hearst story (complete w/ sound bites and the whole nine).  It was just a really dope method of showing some instrumentals and simultaneous watermarking.
