While 0ther underground creative collectives are being lackadaiscal with their the output and waiting for things to happen, The Lessondary is hard at work churning out their true school brand of hip-hop music.  And one of their principal beatmakers, Aeon, makes this abundantly clear with his new release.

What was originally intended as a quick “beat dump” to throw out to the masses sort of metamorphosized into a proper, high-quality instrumental album.  Glad he had that moment of clarity because folks should have BEEN hollered at Aeon for some heat.  I sense the stardom creeping even closer.  For the super duper cheap $3 sticker, you can’t go wrong. Philly (and the rest of the world), stand up!

Always on my “better late than never” steez, I give to you the video for the Che Grand‘s nice weather banger “Girls Talk” featuring Darrin Maxwell (of Brooklyn’s own Sankofa) on the crooning and Aeon on the beat.  The video was directed by Lajon S. Daniels.  There are bunch of cool little cameos in here if you watch closely.  And speaking of being better late than never, this jam will be featured on Che’s soon-to-be-released Everything’s Good Ugly LP which is quickly becoming the “Detox” of the underground hip-hop scene.  And just as highly anticipated in my eyes.

Yeah the song’s old, so what?  I’m sure Aeon felt the same way when he decided to take this and give it a fresh nip / tuck.  Mind you, he didn’t take the proper acapella and just lay it over an instrumental.  He decided to do it the hard way.  Aeon went in, tweaked levels and layered shit to make this happen.  This is “super duty tuff work” (c) Kase, Wild Style.  It gives it a great, kinda mystic effect (you can hear elements of the original beat if you listen close).  I don’t know if that was intentional or not.  What I do know is that I wanna sip a rum punch on a spaceship now.  Big ups to the homie for sending this gem over (previously only for stream on his blog).

I’m pretty much gonna post anything the homie Aeon decides to customize.  And this time around, it’s the DC phenom emcee Wale‘s “Good Girls.”  He laced it with a little outerspace boogie and I’m feelin’ it.  I defy you not to two-step to this.  Shout out to all the “good girls” of the world.  I’m still on a quest to confirm the myth that y’all are the complete opposite behind closed doors.  But that’s a whole other blog.

So I found this over on Aeon’s blog the other night (as he’s the producer of this track).  I lost my mind on first listen because it’s probably one of the best songs off Che Grand‘s soon-to-be-released debut opus (Everything’s Good Ugly) I’ve heard to date.  However it was streaming and not available for download.  But, using my uncanny HTML code-breaking abilities, I snatched the MP3 anyway because I’m a nerd like that.  And I ALMOST posted it with reckless abandon because I was feeling it THAT much. Then I realized there was probably a good reason why it was streaming in the first place.

So I did the nice thing:  asked for permission.  After a few emails back and forth w/ Che, I was given the greeeeeeeen liiiiiiight (© John Legend).  Ladies and gents, a TREES FOR BREAKFAST EXCLUSIVE! The rough cut of “I Know You Still Want Me” complete with alot of ad libby shit talkin’ @ the end that might not be there when the album finally drops.  So consider this is a collector’s item.

Panacea dropped a well-received album on Rawkus Records back in September 2007 called The Scenic Route.  Unfortunately it kinda fell under the radar (like alot of great music does).  However they will be releasing a remix album entitled Re-Route this summer with a vertitable who’s-who of producers who will be breathing some different life into the original album.
