MOOVMNT gets the nod and a high five for good measure for being the site I happened to be perusing when I found this. Meet Dunc & Toine — two youngsters from the DMV (DC / Maryland / Virginia) area. If you’re in touch w/ quality hip-hop these days, you probably already know that the DMV has become quite the hotbed for emerging underground talent in the past few years. And these two are learning from the best. Namely Oddisee, who gives the duo DTMD (Dunc & Toine Makin’ Dollas, LOL) the heavy co-sign with this free release.
Personally, I was blown the hell away. There’s not one weak track on this 6-track EP. I didn’t expect to hear such quality coming out of two guys who aren’t even of legal drinking age yet. But then again, their mentors / inspiration and a obvious heavy diet of J Dilla never hurt anybody. Things can only go up from here.
