Sade – “Soldier of Love”

Last night, when many of you were probably getting ready to get in bed or settle in after a long day at work, something miraculous happened.  Sade‘s first new song in a decade (yes, 10 YEARS, believe it or not), leaked ever-so-gracefully into this shared space we call the internet.  It’s already all over the place and I almost didn’t post it just for that reason.  But then I came to my senses.  There was no way I couldn’t.  I was way too excited.  I can’t pinpoint exactly who to credit for the initial leakage but I do know that gets the nod for having news early on Monday that a single was ready to make its digital run.

I was expecting some classic sexy beach-type sh*t.  That’s Sade’s trademark.  Not the case, folks.  This new joint (co-produced by the lady herself and Mike Pela) goes a tad harder.  Picture the same beach metaphor I just mentioned, but with a storm rolling in.  Sade is one of the most revered and mysterious soul artists of our time.  I’m insanely happy that she still has those creative juices flowing and is ready to bless us with more art in vocal form.

NOTE: So it looks like Atlantic ran through the internet like an unstoppable rebel force, hit all the blogs and killed all the MP3 links of “Soldier of Love.”  So if you want your new Sade fix, you can peep the video or  purchase the song on iTunes.  The full-length album, Soldier of Love, drops in the US on February 9th, 2010.
