No Mas x James Blagden – GOAT vs GFOS / Dock Ellis & The LSD No-No

I want y’all to meet a homie of mine.  His name is James Blagden and he’s a pretty f*ckin’ fresh illustrator.  He linked up with an equally-as-fresh NYC-based art and apparel collective No Mas to flex his art skills for the interwebs.  The first product of this dream team-up was the fun(ky) short posted above entitled The Greatest of All-Time (Muhammad Ali) vs. The Godfather of Soul (James Brown), inspired by the historic phenomenon that was 1974′s Rumble In the Jungle

You didn’t think they’d stop with that one gem now, did you?  The above clip (the second installment in this sporty collabo) is something that has garnered MUCH attention since it was released into cyberspace and rightfully so.  This time they got a little fancier too.   No Mas dug up some audio of former professional MLB pitcher Dock Ellis recounting the infamous game in 1970 where he took the mound and pitched a no-hitter high out of his melon on LSD.  James gets his trippiest ink work in on this one to illustrate the story.  And yes, this was an absolutely true story (according to him).  Look it up.  Dock Ellis passed away in December of 2008.

p.s. BREAKING NEWS!  Dock Ellis & The LSD No-No has been selected for the U.S. Documentary Shorts category in the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
