Sometimes when I feel like I’m playing it too safe here (and that’s not often), I like to break out of that pattern and bring something a little different.  Even more different that the “different” stuff I usually post.  Along comes three Bay Area representatives, Dahlak, N.i.C, and Drizzletron, collectively forming iLL-Literacy.  These guys are on their hustling and promotion game grind harder than most folks lately and it’s not like they are peddling piss-poor product either.  Here’s a quick intro…

Toggling between daydream and full-blown hallucination, iLL-Literacy is a music and performance collective that fuses elements of funk, hip-hop, spoken word, and interactive theatre for a sound and live experience that draws as much from the rich artistic and political history of its Oakland hometown as it does from the experimental and imaginative inclinations of its current Brooklyn base.

Peep two quality joints below that perfectly display the bi-coastal flavor that has been naturally embedded in these cats.  Not many have been lucky enough to receive it, but the advance hard copy of their free project IB4the1.1 (where both songs below originate from) comes in an oversized Kool-Aid packet replica.  When I was handed it at a party here in NYC back in the early Fall, my jaw dropped.  Creativity at it’s finest.  They grabbed my attention.  Now it’s your turn.
